What It Does
Screen Mapper lets you design multi-screen display layouts (video walls, LED installations, bento grids) inside a dedicated canvas tool, then export the entire structure to After Effects as ready-to-use compositions. It handles all the positioning, naming, labeling, and precomp creation automatically. Originally called Display Builder, it’s built for motion designers working on large-format events or multi-display projects.
Key Features
Canvas creation and export. Design templates up to 30,000px (After Effects’ max composition size) with custom dimensions, then export the entire structure in seconds. Screen Mapper generates a master composition plus individual precomps for each display, all named and positioned correctly.
Grid building and multi-display tools. Use the toolbar to add displays, duplicate selections, build grids of screens, rotate displays, and adjust multiple screens at once. The Multi Display Adjuster lets you modify spacing and alignment across several displays simultaneously.
Pixel-perfect layout tools. Rulers, guides, grids, and snapping keep your layouts precise. Gutters account for bezels or spacing between physical screens. Edge detection highlights alignment with other displays as you drag.
Bento grid support. Quickly build modular grid layouts for social media templates or tile-based designs. Screen Mapper adds optional pixel mapping shape layers to each composition for previewing and fine-tuning individual grids.
Image reference and scaling. Import reference images up to 10,000px and scale displays proportionally to match. Useful when working from venue diagrams or client mockups.
Save and share templates. Export your canvas to a file for version control or sharing with other teams. Import templates from collaborators or reopen previous projects for updates.
Keyboard shortcuts. Add displays, duplicate, toggle grid (semicolon), rulers (Ctrl+R), undo/redo, and more. Supports both UK and US keyboard layouts. On Mac, use Ctrl+S to save (Cmd+S doesn’t work in extensions).
Who It’s For
Motion designers and video teams working on LED video walls, conference presentations, stadium displays, or any project involving multiple synchronized screens. Also useful for social media designers building bento-style grid templates.
