What It Does

Save Comp As Project 2 exported selected compositions as standalone After Effects project files. Instead of manually duplicating projects and cleaning up unused assets, this script automated the entire process, including project reduction and optional file collection.

This product is no longer available for purchase. The developer recommends AEVIEWER Pro as an alternative, which includes similar functionality.

Key Features

Batch export. Select multiple compositions and export them all at once, either into a single folder or separate directories for each comp.

Automatic project reduction. The script analyzed file dependencies and removed unused items from exported projects, keeping file sizes minimal and projects organized.

File collection. Gathered associated footage and assets alongside exported projects. Note that PSD and AI files imported as compositions couldn’t be relinked, and fonts weren’t collected.

Versioning support. Auto-incremented version numbers when exporting to help maintain project history.

Who It’s For

This script was designed for motion designers working on complex projects who needed to isolate specific compositions for client delivery, archiving, or handoff to other artists. It was particularly useful for large productions where manually cleaning up project files consumed significant time.

Pricing

Originally offered as pay-what-you-want (name your own price). The script is no longer available for purchase. The developer created it to help fund an independent animated feature film made entirely in After Effects.
