What It Does
Reveal in Finder bridges the gap between After Effects and your file system. Select any item in your comp timeline (footage, assets, project files), run the script, and Finder opens directly to that file’s location. No more hunting through folder hierarchies.
Key Features
Context-agnostic file revealing. Works from anywhere in After Effects, not just the Project panel. Select a layer in the timeline and reveal its source file instantly.
Keyboard shortcut support. Assign the script to a custom keyboard shortcut through After Effects’ scripting preferences. Lloyd Alvarez maintains a detailed FAQ on script shortcuts for setup.
KBar integration. Add a “Run JSX/JSXBIN File” button in KBar pointing to the script file. Install the script in the Scripts folder (not ScriptUI Panels) for this to work.
Who It’s For
Anyone managing multiple footage sources or working across network drives. Particularly useful when collaborating on projects with shared asset libraries, or when you need to quickly access the original file for re-linking, version checking, or file management.
Pricing
Pay-what-you-want with a suggested minimum of $4.99 USD. Individual users set their own price. Businesses and teams pay the suggested amount for a valid license.
Compatible with After Effects CS6 through 2026. Developed by Lloyd Alvarez.
