What It Does
Randomatic 2 applies randomization to After Effects properties without writing expressions. Select any 2D, 3D, or color property and apply either static random values, animated random, or wiggle motion. The plugin creates controller layers with parameters you can keyframe, letting you animate the randomness itself.
Key Features
Three randomization methods. Offset shifts layer timing with optional step increments and composition-relative positioning. Stretch randomizes layer duration while preserving or ignoring existing keyframes. Index randomizes based on layer order, with an option to preserve grouped layers.
Color randomization in three modes. The Gradient method creates rainbow effects from two colors. Palette mode accepts up to 10 specific colors. HSL mode controls Hue, Saturation, and Luminosity independently, useful for tinting variations that maintain luminance consistency.
Random vs Wiggle algorithms. Random produces mechanical-looking animations with fully random values that stay strictly within range. Wiggle creates organic motion by oscillating around the original value, potentially exceeding the set range slightly. Both support easing functions (linear, ease, quad, quart, quint, expo).
Controller management tools. The Scan function finds all Randomatic expressions in your project. Delete removes the effect and all associated expressions with one click. Replace swaps one Randomatic controller for another while preserving keyframes. Transfer moves controllers between layers or compositions. The Random Generator button re-randomizes all seed values simultaneously.
Advanced options. Sync Layers makes randomized layers move together instead of independently. Strength scales the randomization amount. Keep Proportions maintains aspect ratios on multi-dimensional properties. Loop (for Wiggle) creates seamless loops for web animations. Variable speed adds timing variation, like 20% speed differences across layers.
Works with trimmed layers, separate dimensions (X/Y/Z position), and preserves initial values unless absolute mode is enabled. Compatible with cameras, lights, and 3D layers.
Who It’s For
Motion designers animating UI elements without keyframing every property. VFX artists adding organic variation to particle systems or element arrays. Anyone who finds the wiggle expression limiting and wants more control over randomization parameters.
