What It Does

QuickImporter replaces After Effects’ default file import dialog with a search-first alternative. Type a few letters of a filename and it shows matching results across thousands of files, handling typos through fuzzy matching. Hover over audio files to preview them without opening. Image sequences appear as single entries instead of hundreds of individual frames.

The plugin works identically across After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Audition with a single license.

Key Features

Fuzzy keyword search. Type partial filenames or abbreviations and QuickImporter finds matches instantly, even with typos. Searches thousands of files without lag.

Audio preview. Hover over audio file icons to play them directly in the dialog. Useful for sifting through large sound libraries. (AIFF files not supported.)

Image sequence handling. Groups image sequences into single search results. Instead of scrolling past frame_001.png through frame_500.png, you see one entry for the sequence.

Thumbnail previews. On macOS, displays thumbnails for PSD, AI, EPS, and most video formats using the system’s QuickLook. Windows shows thumbnails only for JPG and PNG.

Folder navigation. Access recent folders and favorites through auto-complete. Reduces clicking through deep folder hierarchies.

Who It’s For

Designed for editors working with large footage libraries who spend time hunting through files. Particularly helpful when dealing with multiple takes, versioned assets, or projects with hundreds of clips. The audio preview feature targets sound designers and anyone assembling projects from stock audio.

Image sequence support matters most for VFX work or projects importing renders as frame sequences.
