What It Does
pt_TextEdit 2 handles bulk text management in After Effects. Search for text layers by font name, color, content, or custom tags in layer comments. Edit properties across multiple layers at once, save custom style presets, and apply them to entire batches with one click. It also searches and replaces text or font names across your project.
Key Features
Search and filter. Click Search to show all text layers, or narrow results by font name (like “Bold”), color value, or tags you’ve added to layer comments. The plugin searches nested compositions and sorts results by composition, font, or layer name. CC 2014.1 and later can find missing fonts.
Batch editing. Select multiple text layers from the search results and apply changes to all of them. Check the properties you want to modify (font, size, color, tracking, leading, alignment), adjust the values, and click Apply. Or enable Auto Apply to update selections instantly as you make changes.
Style presets. Save frequently-used text settings as presets. Name them, store them in the dropdown, and recall them later. Apply a preset to dozens of layers without manually setting each property.
Search and replace. Replace text content or font names across all selected layers. Useful for correcting typos, updating brand names, or swapping placeholder fonts for final ones.
Fetch and apply workflow. Select a text layer in the list or timeline and click Fetch to copy its current properties into the editing panel. Modify what you need, then click Apply or Add to Timeline to push those changes back out.
Color display options. View color values as 8-bit RGB (0-255), hex codes for web, or decimal (0.0-1.0) to match your workflow.
