What It Does

pt_LayerMarkers handles two marker-related tasks: adding markers to help you navigate a timeline, and splitting layers at marker positions. The script adds layer markers at in/out points of layers in a composition, which lets you jump between edit points using the J and K keys. It can also split selected layers into multiple segments wherever layer markers exist, similar to After Effects’ built-in Split Layers feature.

Key Features

Add Markers at Cuts. Place layer markers at in points, out points, or both. Choose whether markers get added to a new solid layer, any selected layers, or nested comp layers. Markers only appear within a layer’s in/out points. You can also add markers at layer midpoints.

Split Layers at Markers. Add layer markers on frames where you want cuts, select the layers, and split them into multiple segments. Control whether split layers stack upward or downward in the timeline. Optionally retain the markers after splitting.

The script works with pt_ContactSheet to make frame selections for contact sheets or storyboards.

Who It’s For

Editors working with multiple cuts in a comp who need faster navigation between edit points. Motion designers building storyboards or contact sheets from layered compositions. Anyone who wants to split layers at precise points without manually cutting and duplicating.

Pricing
