What It Does
Project Sync allowed teams to share After Effects project files without duplicating content. The plugin monitored linked .aep files for changes and notified users when updates were available. This product has been discontinued and is no longer available for purchase.
Two syncing methods gave users flexibility in how they shared work:
Link Project connected an already-imported project to its source .aep file. Select the imported project’s folder, click “Link Project,” locate the source file, and the plugin watches it for updates. Use “Check for Updates” to pull in changes.
Share Comp extracted a single composition into a new project file that other team members could import. Select the comp, click “Share Comp,” save the new project, and it automatically imports back into your working file as a linked project.
Key Features
Sync Assist was an optional companion app that ran outside After Effects. It provided real-time notifications when watched files were updated or when file increments were detected, eliminating the need to manually check for changes.
The plugin displayed all linked projects in a panel list. A single “Check for Updates” button let you refresh all watched files at once.
Who It’s For
Project Sync was built for studios and teams working on deadline-driven projects where multiple artists needed to collaborate on the same After Effects file. Animators could work on specific comps while others integrated those pieces into the master project.
Pricing
When available, Project Sync sold for $29 (often discounted to $23.20). Multi-license discounts applied: 10% off for 2 licenses, 15% off for 5, and 20% off for 10. Users who owned the original AE Project Sync could upgrade to version 3 for free.
