What It Does

Project Font Pro automates font replacement across After Effects projects. Instead of manually updating text layers one by one, you can replace fonts project-wide, within specific comps, or filtered by layer name. You can also target just the font weight, size, color, or alignment, leaving other properties untouched.

The script scans your project and shows how many layers use each font. You can replace all instances of Impact with Helvetica, or only layers whose names contain “movie”. It also handles missing fonts at once, replacing them all with a working typeface in a single operation.

Key Features

Font-by-font replacement. Select a font from your project and replace it everywhere, or filter by layer name to target specific text elements. The script counts affected layers before you commit.

Style grabbing. Copy the full text style (font, size, color, stroke, alignment, leading, tracking) from one layer and apply it to others. You can choose which attributes to copy and which to leave alone.

Selective property changes. Replace only the font weight, size, color, or alignment without touching other properties. Useful when you need to adjust hierarchy or branding without redoing your text setup.

Missing font replacement. Fix all missing fonts in one step. The script identifies them, lets you pick a replacement, and updates every layer at once.

Layer name filtering with regex. Target text layers by name patterns. For example, replace fonts only in layers containing “title” or matching a specific regex pattern.

The interface shows comp names where fonts are found, and you can open those comps directly from the script panel.

Who It’s For

Useful for editors working on templated projects, rebrandings, or client revisions where font changes need to happen fast. Also helps when inheriting projects with missing fonts or when maintaining consistency across multiple comps.
