What It Does

PrayMitive uses raymarching to generate 3D geometry directly in After Effects, without Cinema 4D or Blender. The plugin runs on your GPU via Metal (macOS), CUDA, or OpenCL (Windows), giving you real-time feedback as you build and modify shapes. Instead of working with polygons, it calculates surfaces mathematically, which means shapes stay smooth at any scale and boolean operations blend naturally.

Typical uses: abstract motion graphics, logo reveals, geometric title sequences, product visualization mockups.

Key Features

14 primitive types. Spheres, toruses, cubes, pyramids, cones, and others. Each primitive has adjustable parameters you can keyframe (radius, edge count, proportions).

Smooth booleans. Combine shapes with union, subtraction, or intersection. A smoothness slider controls whether edges are sharp or rounded. When primitives overlap, their colors and materials blend automatically at the seam, no manual blending required.

Per-primitive materials. Set diffuse color and intensity, specular reflections (color and shininess), glossiness, and rim light for edge glow. Rim light can pull colors from surface normals for gradient effects.

Mesh deformers. Apply Waves (sine/cosine displacement along X, Y, or Z), Ripples (radial waves from center), Twist (spiral around an axis), or Bend (curve the entire shape). All parameters animate over time.

Layer tagging. Version switching through tags. Useful if you’re testing multiple design directions in the same comp.

Who It’s For

Motion designers who need quick 3D geometry without leaving After Effects. If you’re building abstract shapes, tech UI elements, or stylized product shots and want to skip the 3D software round-trip, this keeps everything in one timeline. Also useful for animators who want to prototype 3D concepts before committing to a full 3D pipeline.

Pricing

PrayMitive follows a pay-what-you-want model. Set your own price (the developer suggests $49.90 for commercial use, currently on sale from $69.90). Non-individual buyers must pay the suggested price. Trial version available. Compatible with After Effects 2020 through 2025, macOS 10.5+, and Windows.
