What It Does
Power Null lets you add null objects directly where you click in your composition. Click to place a null, drag to position it precisely, and watch as selected layers automatically parent to it. The script includes live snapping to edges, corners, anchor points, and comp center, eliminating the guesswork from rigging setups.
Key Features
Interactive placement. Click anywhere in the comp to instantly add a null. Drag while placing to position it exactly where you need it, with real-time feedback.
Smart snapping. Snap to layer edges, corners, anchor points, or composition center. The snapping works live as you drag, making it easy to align nulls precisely without measuring.
Automatic parenting. Selected layers automatically parent to the newly created null. No manual pickwhipping required.
Property linking. Select properties before clicking and they’ll link to the null automatically. You can even link properties to existing nulls. Path properties link to masks on the null, while source text properties link to marker comments.
Shape layer option. Use shape layers instead of standard null objects through the settings menu. Useful when you need visible controllers in your rig.
Keyboard mappable. Works as a dockable panel or can be assigned to keyboard shortcuts. Also works in KBar for custom toolbar setups.
Who It’s For
Motion designers building character rigs or complex animation setups. Anyone who regularly creates parent hierarchies and needs to place nulls accurately without the usual clicking and dragging through menus. Particularly useful for rigging workflows where you’re creating multiple control nulls for different parts of an animation.
Pricing
Power Null costs $14.99 for a single user license. A 7-day free trial is available to test the script before purchasing.
