What It Does
Plotter converts footage and images into vector art using procedural algorithms. Instead of traditional filters that modify pixels, Plotter generates new shape-based artwork from your source material. The plugin runs directly inside After Effects, applying 16 different vectorization styles to live footage or still images.
Key Features
16 unique algorithms. Choose from Delaunay triangulation, halftone patterns, mosaic tiles, squiggle lines, stipple dots, and more. Each algorithm interprets your source material differently. For example, Delaunay creates interconnected triangular shapes, while Stipples renders the image as a field of dots.
Compositing options. Layer the vector output over your original footage. Useful for partially revealing the vector effect or creating split-screen transitions between styles.
Color control. Pull colors directly from the source image or switch to RGB/CMYK color modes for manual adjustment. This works well for creating stylized graphic looks from realistic footage.
SVG export and shape layers. Export results as SVG files for use in illustration software, or convert to After Effects shape layers for further animation. Shape layer conversion lets you animate individual vertices, paths, and stroke properties using standard keyframes.
Adjustable parameters. Each algorithm includes settings like density, scale, and threshold. Fine-tune the level of detail, pattern complexity, or edge detection sensitivity to match your project.
Who It’s For
This plugin works for motion graphics artists who need vector-style effects without manual tracing. Common uses include animated infographics, logo reveals with geometric transitions, and music video treatments. It also suits anyone converting photo or video content into line art for print, web graphics, or mixed-media projects.
