What It Does
Plexus OBJ Sequence Exporter bridges Cinema 4D and After Effects by exporting animated geometry as OBJ file sequences. Each frame of your C4D animation exports as a separate OBJ file, which you can then import into Plexus using its OBJ Object feature. The plugin captures vertices and faces only, no texture coordinates or normals, making it purely geometry-focused.
Key Features
C4D to Plexus pipeline. Designed specifically for Rowbyte’s Plexus, this exporter creates the exact file format the Plexus OBJ Object expects. While it may work with other tools, compatibility outside Plexus isn’t guaranteed.
Sequence export. Each frame becomes its own OBJ file, letting you bring animated 3D models into After Effects for particle and point-based effects.
Lightweight geometry. Exports only vertex positions and triangle data. If you need UVs or normals, you’ll need a different workflow.
Who It’s For
Motion designers working between Cinema 4D and After Effects who want to drive Plexus animations with custom 3D geometry. If you’re already using Plexus for particle work and need more control than built-in primitives offer, this handles the export step.
Compatibility
Supports Cinema 4D R12 through R17. Last updated October 2015, so newer C4D versions aren’t officially supported.
Pricing
Completely free. Previously sold for $29, now available as a free download from Rowbyte. Also included free when you purchase Plexus.
