What It Does

Paravent generates folding screen animations from any layer in After Effects. Select a layer, click create, and it builds an expression-driven mask system that folds and unfolds the element. You control the fold direction, number of panels, decay timing, and panel order through a single interface.

Key Features

Expression-driven masks. The plugin constructs masks controlled by expressions rather than manual keyframing. This lets you adjust fold behavior after creation without rebuilding the animation from scratch.

Panel customization. Set how many panels divide your layer and which direction the fold travels. Each panel folds with customizable decay, creating accordion-style transitions or controlled reveals.

Layer compatibility. Works with any layer type, from footage and solids to shape layers and precomps. The tool creates a new composition from your selected element and applies the folding structure automatically.

Who It’s For

Useful for motion graphics work requiring paper-fold transitions, origami-style reveals, or layered unfolding text animations. The expression-based approach makes it practical when you need to tweak timing or panel count late in a project without starting over.
