What It Does

Paint Out manages paint strokes through tracked nulls, letting you remove tracking markers, dirt, and other unwanted elements from footage. The script works with nulls from After Effects’ 3D Camera Tracker, imported match-move data, or 2D trackers generated by Paint Out itself.

This product has been discontinued. The developer recommends using Lockdown instead.

Key Features

Bulk stroke creation. Create or remove paint strokes in bulk that automatically follow null positions. Adjust each stroke’s color, size, softness, and roundness through per-null controls.

Vector rotation handling. The vector feature defines an object’s rotation and adjusts clones accordingly, working with rotating objects that would otherwise require manual frame-by-frame painting.

Visual management. Visualize strokes with colored spots and toggle them on or off using the null layer’s in and out points. Controls appear directly on each null for quick access.

Compatible with After Effects CC 2014 through 2020.

Who It’s For

Useful for compositors removing tracking markers from VFX plates or cleaning up footage with repeating unwanted elements. The automated approach works best when you have multiple similar items to remove across a sequence.

Pricing

Originally available as pay-what-you-want, with a suggested price of $24. The script is no longer available for purchase since being discontinued in favor of Lockdown.
