What It Does

Neat Freak standardizes After Effects UI settings across an entire project file. It addresses cluttered timelines, misaligned viewers, and unwanted grid overlays that appear when opening shared projects or third-party templates. The plugin modifies project-wide settings for timeline columns, viewer layouts, and composition buttons, useful for template authors preparing clean deliverables or teams maintaining consistent workspace configurations.

Key Features

Set Timeline Columns. Controls which timeline columns are visible project-wide. Hide unnecessary columns like Comments, Keys, In, or Out to reclaim screen space on laptop displays.

Twirl-up Layer Properties. Closes all opened layer properties in the timeline across every composition in the project.

Zoom-out Timeline. Zooms out to show the entire composition duration in the timeline.

Set Timeline Buttons. Controls the state of Draft 3D, Shy, and other composition buttons. Buttons only activate if the composition contains relevant layers.

Reset Viewer to Defaults. Restores default viewer configuration, turning off rulers, title-safe grids, and recentering the composition viewport.

Set Viewport Layout. Adjusts the number of visible viewports in the viewer panel.

The plugin works by saving the current project as an XML file and modifying it offline. There is no undo, so backup your project before running it.

Who It’s For

Template authors preparing projects for sale or distribution will find this useful for delivering clean, standardized files. Small teams working on collaborative projects can use it to enforce consistent UI settings. Editors working on laptops benefit from hiding columns to maximize timeline visibility.
