What It Does

MonkeySauce automates the placement and timing of sound effects in After Effects. Instead of scrubbing through audio to find sync points, you select audio files, choose a trigger mode, and the script generates markers and precomps to match your animation.

The script offers 24 different trigger recipes. You can sync audio to existing markers on a layer, place effects at layer start/middle/end points, trigger randomly within a time range, or sequence multiple sounds in order. MonkeySauce handles the precomp organization, keeping your timeline clean while giving you control over timing and randomization.

Key Features

Single mode. Places each audio file in its own precomp, keeping them separate and organized.

Sequence mode. Combines selected sound effects into one precomp, triggering them in project order or randomly if Mix Order is active.

Expanded mode. Similar to Sequence but isolates each effect in its own precomp to prevent cutoff or overlap.

Squeeze mode. Time-compresses audio to fit before the next marker, useful for tight timing situations.

Trigger types. Manual marker placement at the CTI, Repeat & Random for interval-based triggering, Layer Start/Middle/End for animation-based sync, Marker Sync to match existing markers on a reference layer, and Random Sync which applies to roughly half of those markers.

Utilities. Offset markers, clean up existing markers, or convert keyframes to markers for additional workflow flexibility.

Who It’s For

Motion designers working on projects with multiple sound effects will save time. Useful for title animations, explainer videos, or any sequence where audio cues need to match on-screen action. Works well with other marker-based tools like The Monkey Suite, Nodekit, Vybe, and Beatnik.

Pricing
