MochaImport+ for Nuke is no longer available for purchase. This information is provided for reference only.
What It Does
MochaImport+ simplifies the workflow between Mocha Pro and Nuke by importing tracking data directly into multiple Nuke node types. Instead of manually translating tracking information or building custom node trees, you can load Mocha data with a single click. The tool supports position, scale, rotation, shear, and perspective data from Mocha’s planar tracker.
Key Features
Multi-node support. Import tracking data into Tracker, Roto, RotoPaint, GridWarp, SplineWarp, and Transform nodes. Each node type gets specialized handling for the data it needs.
CornerPin node with lens distortion. A custom CornerPin node includes built-in support for Mocha’s lens distortion maps, eliminating the need to compensate for lens distortion separately.
Stabilized precomp workflow. The stabilized view workflow from the After Effects version works in Nuke, allowing you to work on stabilized footage and export the destabilized result.
Camera solver integration. One-click import for Mocha’s camera solver data (FBX format), bringing 3D camera tracking into Nuke.
Shear and perspective tracking. Unlike basic tracking tools, MochaImport+ brings all transform data from Mocha, including shear and perspective, useful for matching screen replacements and VFX elements to angled surfaces.
Portable scripts. Nuke scripts created with MochaImport+ work on machines where the plugin isn’t installed. The tool is only required when loading or replacing tracking data, making collaboration simpler.
SplineWarp+ node. Added in version 1.1, this node handles complex warping tasks with Mocha spline data.
Python API. Automate MochaImport+ functions in your own Python scripts.
Bonus tool: Relative File Path. A separate utility that lets you move Nuke projects between locations without breaking footage links. This tool is fully functional and has no time limit, even in the trial version.
Who It’s For
Compositors who regularly track shots in Mocha Pro and composite in Nuke. The tool targets anyone tired of manually translating tracking data or building repetitive node setups. If you’re doing screen replacements, roto work, or stabilization with Mocha, this automates the tedious parts.
Compatibility
Requires Mocha Pro (any version that exports Nuke corner pin data) and Nuke 7, 8, 9, 10, or 11. Version 1.103 added support for Nuke 11.
Pricing
When available, MochaImport+ for Nuke was offered on a pay-what-you-want basis. Customers who owned MochaImport+ for After Effects received a 20% crossgrade discount. The product launched in 2014 at $123 USD, with a promotional price of $98.40 during NAB that year.
