What It Does
Middle Measure calculates distances between objects in your composition and locates the exact midpoint between them. Instead of eyeballing positions or doing mental math, you get precise measurements and can create expressions that automatically center layers between reference points. The plugin works with nulls, layer anchor points, layer edges, and custom target points, all in 2D or 3D space.
The plugin creates dynamic expressions that update in real time. If your layers animate, the measurements and centering adjust automatically. You can also generate connecting lines between objects and auto-rotate layers to face each other.
Key Features
Distance measurement. Calculate the exact distance between nulls, layers, layer edges, or custom targets. The measurement stays accurate even when objects animate.
Automatic midpoint location. Find the precise center point between any two objects. Create a null at that location or use it as a positioning reference.
Dynamic centering expressions. Generate expressions that keep a layer centered between two other layers throughout the timeline. Adjust center bias with effect controls to shift the position toward one side or the other.
Dynamic connecting lines. Automatically draw lines between layers with adjustable attributes like color, thickness, and style. The lines update as your layers move.
Auto-rotation. Make layers point toward each other automatically using generated expressions.
3D support. All measurement and centering functions work in three dimensions, not just on the 2D plane.
Measurement Info display. Access calculated distance data through a display layer. Other expressions in your project can reference this data.
Who It’s For
Useful for motion designers who need precise spatial relationships, technical animators working with complex rigs, or anyone tired of manually calculating positions. If you frequently align objects to specific points or need measurements that stay accurate during animation, this solves that problem.
Pricing
The plugin costs $9.99 for a single user license. A trial version is available to test compatibility before purchase.
