What It Does
Match is a pay-what-you-want extension for After Effects that simplifies expression and script work. Select any property, click to copy its path in a universalized format (expression or script syntax), apply easing functions, format code for external editors, or convert expressions into keyframes. It handles all After Effects property types using match names for accurate referencing.
Key Features
Path fetching. Match provides three path versions: two for expressions, one for scripts. No more manual Pick Whip wrangling. Select a property, copy the path, paste it anywhere. The paths are universalized for consistent behavior across projects.
Easing functions. Apply ease IN, OUT, or both to any property with built-in functions. Includes customizable snippets for tweaking the output. Useful for adding motion polish without writing curves from scratch.
Expression formatting. Copy expressions from After Effects and Match converts them to script-ready syntax automatically. Bridges the gap between the expression editor and your scripting environment, saving reformatting time.
Expression baking. Converts expressions into keyframes. Useful when expressions slow down playback or when handing off projects to teams that prefer baked animation. Ensures consistent playback and rendering.
Error handling. Disables expressions containing errors and marks their layers with numbered markers. Makes it easier to isolate and fix issues in complex projects or templates.
The UI is resizable and animated. Everything updates on the fly as you work.
Who It’s For
Match is aimed at animators and scripters who work with expressions regularly, especially those building templates or .mogrt files for public use. If you copy property paths frequently, write custom easing, or need to move expression code between After Effects and external scripts, this saves time. Also helpful for baking expressions in projects where performance matters.
Pricing
Match uses a pay-what-you-want model with a suggested minimum of $17.50. Individual users can pay any amount. Businesses and teams must pay the suggested price for a valid license. No subscription or recurring fees.
