What It Does
malty: Snapshot captures the current composition frame and saves it as a PNG file in one click. Instead of using the render queue, it exports directly to your project directory with transparency support. Useful for client previews, style frames, or quick reference exports during the editing process.
Note: This plugin was discontinued in 2013 and is no longer available for purchase.
Key Features
Custom file naming. Define naming patterns using variables and indexing. Files save automatically to your project directory without manual pathing.
Direct import. Import saved snapshots back into After Effects from within the script. Tracks which snapshots belong to which project file.
No render queue. Bypasses the standard render queue entirely. One button press captures the frame at the current playhead position.
ft-Toolbar integration. Works with the ft-Toolbar script (sold separately) for even faster access, though it’s not required to run.
Pricing
Was sold as a one-time purchase for $15.20 (discounted from $19.00) before being discontinued. Last updated August 24, 2013 for After Effects CS5.5 and later. Not compatible with earlier versions.
