What It Does

Magnus creates animated text with a geometric, sports-inspired style. The typeface builds character by character with segments that move into place from above or below. Built as shape layers rather than pre-rendered graphics, it scales infinitely without quality loss.

Key Features

Weight control. A slider adjusts the line width, scaling inward while keeping character proportions intact.

Timing controls. Set the duration for each segment’s movement and adjust the stagger delay between segments. A checkbox toggles easing on or off.

Directional animation. Choose whether segments enter from above or below the baseline.

Slant adjustment. A slider controls the typeface’s angle.

JSX format. Works with Font Manager for typing directly in After Effects rather than placing individual character comps. Also includes an organized .aep file with all characters as separate compositions.

Who It’s For

Useful for title animations where you want a bold, athletic look without pre-rendering. The uppercase-only character set includes numbers and basic punctuation (! ? , .), making it suitable for sports graphics, product launches, or motion posters.

Pricing

Magnus uses a pay-what-you-want model (minimum $30 suggested). A 7-day trial lets you test the A, B, and C characters with the free Font Manager trial. Compatible with After Effects CS6 through 2024.
