What It Does

LayerLUT Exporter converts color work done in After Effects into portable LUT files. Select any layer with effects applied, run the plugin, and it generates a .cube file that replicates that exact look. You can then use that LUT in DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or any other software that reads standard LUT formats.

This solves a common problem: you grade footage in After Effects using Curves, Lumetri Color, or custom effect stacks, but then need to match that look in another application. Instead of manually recreating the grade or exporting comparison frames, you export a LUT that does the math for you.

Key Features

Layer-based generation. Point the plugin at any layer in your comp. It reads the combined effect of all applied adjustments and bakes them into a single LUT file. No need to flatten or pre-render.

Universal .cube export. The output format is .cube, which is supported by nearly every color grading and video editing tool. You can share these LUTs with clients, use them in grading software, or apply them to footage shot on different cameras to match your After Effects preview.

Menu item integration. The plugin installs as a menu item in After Effects. Select your layer, choose the export option, pick a save location, and the LUT file is ready in seconds.

Who It’s For

This is useful for colorists who prototype looks in After Effects before moving to dedicated grading software. It’s also handy for editors who need to replicate a specific color treatment across multiple applications without exporting entire image sequences.

If you work with a post house that uses different tools, or if you need to hand off a specific look to a client who doesn’t use After Effects, exporting a LUT gives you a universal handoff format.
