What It Does

LayerGenerators automates the creation of After Effects layers when you need many layers that can’t be made by simple duplication. It includes three specialized tools: AlphabetFromText for generating complete character sets, Solidity for creating and colorizing solids, and VectorIcons for generating shape layers from icon libraries.

Key Features

AlphabetFromText generates a complete ASCII alphabet matching any text layer’s font. Each character sits on its own layer. Options include adding digits and punctuation, centering anchor points, and outputting as shape layers instead of text. Useful when building kinetic typography systems or creating modular text animations.

Solidity creates batches of colored solids or colorizes existing layers (solids, text, or shapes). Generated solids can inherit properties like masks and effects from a source solid. Choose from 60 color presets or build custom palettes. For text and shape layers, target the fill, stroke, or both.

VectorIcons generates over 3,000 vector icons from six popular icon sets (Font Awesome, Google Material Design, Ionicons, Foundation, IcoMoon, Typicons). Icons appear as shape layers, so they scale without quality loss. Create entire icon groups at once or select individual icons.

All three tools generate hundreds of layers in seconds. They work well with plugins like Pastiche and Newton2, where you need many starting elements to build complex compositions.

Who It’s For

Motion designers working on projects with many similar-but-not-identical layers. Projects involving alphabets, color studies, icon animations, or modular compositions benefit most. The tools avoid repetitive manual work when duplicating an existing layer won’t do the job.

Pricing

LayerGenerators uses a pay-what-you-want model. The suggested price is $29, but you can set your own amount. Students and faculty get 50% off the suggested price. It’s part of the Mobo Super Suite bundle for those who want the full Motion Boutique toolkit. One-time purchase with no subscription.
