What It Does

Layer Library saves groups of layers as presets that can be recreated in future projects with a single click. Save any combination of adjustment layers, cameras, lights, null objects, solids, or text layers along with their markers, keyframes, expressions, effects, masks, blending modes, and colors. Organize these presets in folders for quick access.

When loading a preset, you can either create new layers or apply the preset to existing layers. If you select a layer with the same name as one in the original preset, Layer Library applies the preset to that existing layer instead of creating a new one.

Key Features

Selective property saving. Save only specific properties by selecting them before clicking the save button. For a complete layer copy with all properties, hold Shift when saving.

Flexible loading options. Create new layers from presets or apply presets to existing layers. Hold Alt when loading to use duplicates of the selected layer and apply different parts of the preset to each.

Smart scaling. Presets automatically scale to match the target composition dimensions. To maintain original dimensions, hold Shift when loading.

Cross-version compatibility. Save presets in one version of After Effects and load them in another, as long as both versions support the saved properties. A single library folder can be shared between different After Effects versions.

Language-independent. Presets work across different language versions of After Effects. For expressions to work properly in any language, create them by Alt-clicking when pick-whipping properties.

Who It’s For

Useful for motion designers who frequently start projects with similar layer setups. Instead of manually recreating your standard adjustment layer stack, camera rig, or null-based control system each time, save them once and reuse them across projects. Particularly helpful for maintaining consistency across multiple videos in a series.

Pricing

Layer Library uses a pay-what-you-want model. Individual users can pay any amount (the suggested price is a guideline). Businesses and teams must pay the suggested price to receive a valid license. Users who log in may see special upgrade pricing if they qualify.
