What It Does
Label Maker scans the pixels in your selected After Effects layers and automatically assigns label colors to match. Instead of manually choosing label colors for organizational purposes, the plugin reads the dominant color from each layer and applies it as the layer label. This helps maintain visual consistency in your timeline and speeds up project organization.
Key Features
Automatic pixel analysis. Select one or more layers, run the plugin, and it analyzes the pixel content to determine the dominant color. The label color updates to match without any additional input.
Default label colors only. The plugin works with After Effects’ built-in label color set. Custom label colors aren’t supported in the current version.
Works with standard layers. Compatible with footage, solids, text, and shape layers. Camera and light layers are excluded from analysis (a bug fix addressed this in version 1.0.2).
Handles layers outside comp bounds. Version 1.0.2 fixed a bug that caused issues when layers extended beyond the composition boundaries, so the plugin now processes all selected layers regardless of position.
Who It’s For
Useful for editors and motion designers who organize complex projects using label colors and want to maintain visual consistency between layer content and timeline organization. Particularly handy when working with color-coded footage or graphics where the label should reflect the actual visual content.
Pricing
Label Maker is completely free. No tiers, no limitations beyond the feature set described above. Compatible with After Effects CC 2015 through 2025 on both Windows and macOS, including native Apple Silicon support added in version 1.0.1.
