What It Does
Indie V2 is an animated typeface that brings hand-drawn typography into After Effects. It provides a condensed sans serif with an intentionally rough edge, built from the ground up with animation controls. The V2 update adds lowercase characters, proper kerning, and a static version that works outside After Effects.
The typeface works through a JSX format that integrates with Font Manager, or you can use the included .aep file. You type normally and adjust sliders to control how the letterforms animate and behave.
Key Features
Animation slider. A 0-100% control that lets you scrub through the drawing animation. Useful for timing title reveals or syncing to audio.
Stroke width controls. Adjust the base thickness of the letterforms, plus add wiggle (with separate amount and frequency parameters) for a hand-drawn effect that shifts over time.
Distortion. Two parameters (amount and size) let you add organic variation to the shapes without manually keyframing.
Color customization. Single-color control, though you can duplicate and layer for multi-color treatments.
Ornaments and frames. Includes decorative elements and scalable frames that match the typeface’s style.
Static version included. A standard font file for layouts that don’t need animation.
The typeface is designed to work with Font Manager for text editing (tracking, line spacing, alignment) and Animography Controller for organizing characters in your comp. Both tools handle the technical setup so you focus on design.
Who It’s For
Fits title sequences, social media graphics, or any project where you want text that looks hand-made but animates consistently. The condensed letterforms work well for longer words in tight spaces. If you need multiple weights or a more polished look, this isn’t the right tool, but for rough, energetic typography it’s straightforward.
