What It Does
iExpressions 3 replaces code with visual controls. Instead of typing expressions in text fields, you click properties, adjust sliders, and see results immediately. Projects export as standard After Effects files that work anywhere, including Premiere Pro Motion Graphics Templates (MOGRTs).
The plugin includes over 100 pre-built expressions covering rigging, shape path manipulation, property linking, audio reactivity, and workflow automation. You can also import your own expressions or copy-paste from online sources, and iExpressions analyzes the code to generate a custom interface.
Key Features
One-click property linking. Connect layers or properties without typing names or creating pick-whips. Color controls included for rigging visual rigs.
Shape path expressions. Modify shape layers with tools like wavy lines, elastic deformation, trails, unfolding animations, and curves drawn through multiple null objects. Link to Point on Shape attaches layers to specific points along a path, even nested paths. Mirror creates symmetrical shapes. Arrowheads add adjustable arrow tips to any path.
Character rigging. Inverse Kinematics (IK) expressions for limb rigs. Automatic walk cycles driven by a single slider. Puppet tool integration for organic animation.
Import and customize. Paste any expression code into iExpressions. It parses the code and builds an interface with labeled controls. Useful for sharing techniques or adapting scripts from forums.
Bake to keyframes. Convert expression-driven animation to keyframes when needed, preserving motion while removing dependencies.
Who It’s For
Motion designers building reusable templates or MOGRT files. Animators who need rigging without learning JavaScript syntax. Anyone who has copied an expression from a tutorial and wanted a simpler way to adjust its parameters.
Because the resulting projects contain standard After Effects expressions (not plugin-dependent data), clients and collaborators can open your files on machines where iExpressions isn’t installed.
Pricing
Pay-what-you-want pricing model. The developer suggests $99.99, but you can contribute any amount. If you purchased iExpressions 2 Full Bundle after May 1, 2019, the upgrade to version 3 is free. Other version 2 users see personalized upgrade pricing (typically around $20) when logged into their original purchase account.
A trial version is available for testing before payment.
