What It Does
GuidesUp! handles guide and alignment tasks in After Effects without manual menu navigation. Instead of toggling rulers, guides, and snap settings multiple times per project, you access everything from a single panel.
Key Features
Frame items sets guides automatically around shapes, footage, and other elements across multiple layers. Select your layers and apply ALL, TOP, LEFT, RIGHT, or BOTTOM guides in one action.
Pre-built templates create grid systems in one click. The Golden Ratio Guides build layouts based on the golden section. Press Shift + Click on the Golden Ratio button to switch to Rule of Thirds guides instead. The 16:9 Guides match widescreen compositions.
Isometric magnetic map generates a snapping 3D isometric grid for designing isometric graphics and maps. The Hex Map option creates a hexagonal grid system.
Save and load guides preserves your guide configurations. Set up guides for a specific comp type once, save the configuration, then load it into other comps.
Anchor point positioning places guides exactly on layer anchor points, useful for precise alignment work.
Toggle controls for Show Guides and Snap (ruler magnetism) sit in the interface for quick access.
Bonus tools include cinematic black bands for adding letterbox bars, memory and disk cache clearing, and a combined Save/Clear Memory/Exit button with confirmation dialogue. Align Anchor, Center Item, and Flip Vertically/Horizontally buttons round out the feature set.
Who It’s For
Motion designers who build layouts with guides, isometric graphics, or structured compositions will use this regularly. Text animators working with alignment systems and anyone placing elements according to the golden ratio or thirds will find the template grids particularly helpful.
