What It Does
Guides adds control over composition and layer guides in After Effects. Copy guides between comps, save them for reuse, or apply them to multiple layers at once. Useful for laying out grids, aligning elements, or maintaining consistent spacing across projects.
Key Features
Copy and paste guides. Move guides between compositions or layers. Paste saved guide sets across projects, useful for maintaining team standards or reusing layouts.
Save and share guide sets. Store guide configurations and share them with collaborators. Apply saved guides to new comps instantly.
Grid and division tools. Add guides every X pixels (griddify), divide comps or layers into equal sections, or wrap guides around edges. Round positions to whole pixels or prevent duplicate guides within a threshold.
Rotate and move guides. Shift guides horizontally or vertically, or rotate them around the comp. Helpful for aligning diagonal elements or reorienting layouts.
Bulk operations. Clear guides across multiple comps, toggle Lock Guides, Snap to Guides, or Show Guides for several compositions at once.
Who It’s For
Motion designers working with precise layouts, title sequences, or multi-comp projects where consistent guide placement matters. Also helpful for template authors who need to distribute guide configurations with project files.
