What It Does
Geometrize! reconstructs any image as an abstract composition of geometric shapes. The extension uses a hillclimbing optimization algorithm that generates and tests hundreds of random shapes per iteration, ranking thousands behind the scenes to find the best-fitting primitives. The result transforms photographs, illustrations, or footage into stylized geometric art built from rectangles, triangles, and ellipses.
Useful for logo reveals, title sequences, and transitions where you want a procedural, technical aesthetic. The geometric reconstruction can animate from simple shapes to complex compositions, creating organic-looking build animations that feel algorithmic rather than hand-drawn.
Key Features
Three geometric primitives. Choose rectangles, triangles, or ellipses as your building blocks. Each primitive creates a distinct visual style.
Alpha channel support. Transparency information from your source image carries through to the geometric reconstruction, letting you composite the result over backgrounds or other layers.
Export to SVG and PNG. Save results as vector shapes for scaling or raster images for immediate use. SVG export means you can bring geometric reconstructions into Illustrator or other vector tools.
Wiggle animation controls. Add automatic wiggle to shape properties for organic variation. Helps break up the static, computer-generated feel.
Shape geometry control. Adjust how individual shapes are constructed and optimized, giving you influence over the algorithm’s choices without manually placing shapes.
Batch processing. Use Work Area settings to process multiple images or segments in one pass. Speeds up experimenting with different source frames.
Who It’s For
Motion designers working on title sequences, data visualization projects, or technical-aesthetic content. The geometric style fits corporate explainers, tech product launches, and abstract transitions between sections. Also useful for anyone building generative art workflows inside After Effects.
Pricing
Geometrize! uses pay-what-you-want pricing. The suggested price is $49.90, but you choose what to pay.
The trial version limits you to 150 shapes and 3 states, enough to test the algorithm and see if the style fits your project.
