What It Does
GEOlayers Mapdata Upfront was a subscription service that provided access to commercial-licensed map data for GEOlayers 3. The product is no longer available as of December 1, 2020. MapTiler, the data provider, now handles subscriptions directly instead of through aescripts.
What It Provided
When active, the subscription unlocked several GEOlayers 3 features:
Stylized map imagery. Edit colors, adjust line widths, swap fonts, and toggle feature groups directly in After Effects. The styling interface let you customize OpenStreetMap-based visuals without leaving your comp.
Commercial licensing. Projects using the mapdata required attribution in a corner of the map or in end credits.
Interactive feature selection. Click the preview map to find and import specific geographic features for the current view.
Multi-language labels. Display map text in different languages.
Watermask layers. Generate dedicated layers for bodies of water.
3D building rendering. Create extruded building geometry from map data.
Current Alternative
To access these features now, purchase GEOlayers 3 ($329.99) and subscribe to MapTiler Cloud Flex directly from MapTiler. The Flex plan starts at $25/month for commercial use. GEOlayers 3 includes a two-week free trial of MapTiler Cloud data. The subscription is optional, you can use GEOlayers 3 without it.
Existing Mapdata Upfront subscriptions remained valid until their expiration date. After that, users needed to migrate to a direct MapTiler Cloud account to continue accessing styled mapdata features.
Pricing
This product used a pay-what-you-want model before discontinuation, with a suggested monthly price of $24 (regular $30). All new subscriptions now go through MapTiler Cloud at $25/month.
