What It Does

Genome changes how cloning works in Cinema 4D. Standard cloner objects create instances, but Genome creates real duplicates that appear in your object browser. Each clone can be individually controlled through Xpresso, letting you modify properties like light shadow types or deformer strength on a per-clone basis.

The plugin bridges the gap between Mograph’s procedural cloning and Xpresso’s flexibility. Instead of pressing ‘C’ to convert parametric cloners into static, non-procedural objects, Genome maintains procedural workflows while giving you granular control.

Key Features

Real clones, not instances. Every cloned object exists as an actual duplicate in your scene hierarchy, accessible for individual manipulation.

Beyond PSR values. Control any property of your clones, not just position, scale, and rotation. Modify materials, deformers, light parameters, or any other attribute through Xpresso.

Mograph Effector compatibility. Use standard Cinema 4D Mograph Effectors alongside Genome’s cloning system.

Automatic hierarchy creation. Reference nodes and hierarchy nodes are created and pre-programmed to iterate through your setups. No manual configuration of start paths or iteration paths required.

Genome Anchor node. An Xpresso node that prevents object references from breaking when duplicating setups. When you copy an Xpresso network, object nodes normally refer to the original source objects rather than the duplicates. The Genome Anchor ensures references point to the correct objects.

Who It’s For

Motion designers working in Cinema 4D who need advanced cloning control beyond what Mograph’s standard cloner provides. Particularly useful for setups requiring unique properties across many cloned objects while maintaining a procedural workflow.
