What It Does

ft-UVPass Bundle lets you re-texture 3D objects and generate object-specific masks directly in After Effects using render passes from 3D software. Instead of returning to your 3D application to adjust textures or create new mattes, you apply changes in After Effects using UV passes (ST maps) and position passes (PPass). This workflow previously required tools like Nuke.

The bundle includes two plugins: ft-UVPass Pro for texture mapping and ft-PPass2Matte for matte generation.

Key Features

ft-UVPass Pro applies textures to 3D objects via UV passes. Select, tile, repeat, and offset textures while preserving the UV pass alpha channel. The plugin replaced Adobe’s problematic subsampling function with a custom version to eliminate slowdowns. You can toggle between the two implementations for testing.

ft-PPass2Matte creates custom mattes attached to 3D objects using position passes (also called point pass, position pass, or world position pass). A display parameter lets you sample the point pass directly. Works with position passes exported from Element 3D, Blender, Cinema 4D, and other 3D applications.

Both plugins support Multi-Frame Rendering (MFR), Apple Silicon, and After Effects 2023+. The bundle now includes the legacy ft-UVPass Basic plugin for compatibility with older projects.

Who It’s For

Useful for compositors working with 3D renders who need to adjust textures or create isolation mattes without round-tripping to 3D software. Particularly relevant if you’re integrating Element 3D renders or working with AOV passes from external 3D packages.

Pricing

ft-UVPass Bundle uses a pay-what-you-want pricing model. The suggested price is $49.99 for a single user license. You can name your own price at purchase. Floating server and render-only licenses are also available.
