What It Does
foxReveal automates the process of revealing shape layer paths in After Effects. Instead of manually keyframing stroke reveals across dozens or hundreds of paths, you set a source point and let the plugin’s branching algorithm detect path relationships and generate the reveal animation. The entire reveal is controlled by two keyframes and an animation curve.
The plugin analyzes shape layers to find connections between paths, automatically determining which paths branch off from others. This works regardless of how your layers are organized, no special grouping required. Set a source object anywhere in your composition, and foxReveal starts the reveal from the closest point on your path structure.
Key Features
Branching detection. The algorithm identifies related paths and objects within a tunable radius, handling complex branching structures through a single slider. You can adjust how the plugin interprets path relationships by changing the branching radius.
Trigger animations. Retimes existing keyframe animations to play when a revealed path reaches specific points. This adds secondary motion without manually syncing timing across multiple layers.
Bake to keyframes. Converts the expression-driven reveal into standard keyframes. Once baked, you can edit the animation like any hand-keyframed reveal, without expression limitations. The baking algorithm generates clean, editable keyframes that match what you’d create manually.
Expression-driven masks. All reveals use expressions, making them animatable and adjustable. Change the source point or branching radius after creating the reveal, then update it with one click.
Who It’s For
Motion designers working with complex path animations, network diagrams, branching structures, or technical visualizations. Useful for infographics where paths need to reveal in sequence from a central point, or any project where manually keyframing path reveals across many layers becomes tedious.
