What It Does
Font Manager turns After Effects into a proper workspace for animated typefaces. It handles the setup and control of character-by-character animations, applying kerning automatically, managing alignment across multiple lines, and letting you write with animated fonts the way you’d use regular text tools.
Key Features
Automatic kerning and metrics. Point it at a typeface and Font Manager analyzes spacing between characters, applying proper kerning without manual layer adjustments. This works for both imported animated fonts and custom builds.
Multiline text with alignment. Type across multiple lines and align left, center, or right. The plugin handles vertical spacing and keeps everything synced when you edit the text.
One-click typeface generation. Converts a font into shape or solid layers for each character, copies animations, and organizes everything into compositions. You can define custom glyph sets (Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Korean, etc.) or work with the default character set.
Batch property parenting. Select which properties (position, scale, rotation, opacity) you want to parent across all glyphs, and Font Manager applies it in one pass. Works with expressions too. Useful when you need to drive multiple characters from a single controller or apply uniform transformations.
Unified controller layer. Manage all characters from one layer, or work with each glyph individually. The controller syncs timing and property changes across the entire word or line.
JSX typeface support. Works natively with JSX format animated typefaces (a lightweight format that integrates directly with the plugin). The Animography library offers a growing collection of these.
Quick Start Assistant. Guides you through initial setup in a few steps: select a typeface, configure spacing, assign controllers. Skips the manual composition-building phase.
Other functions include layer time offsetting, layer reordering, parenting toggles, and a “demo all glyphs” preview mode for checking the full character set.
Who It’s For
Motion designers working with kinetic typography or title sequences. Animators who need to build or adapt custom animated typefaces without scripting each character manually. Studios producing multilingual content (the plugin supports Unicode and right-to-left languages via TypeMonkey Text Modifiers).
Pricing
Font Manager uses a pay-what-you-want model. The standard price is $79.98, but you can name your own amount. A free trial is available to test the workflow before committing.
