What It Does

Fixel EdgeHancer 3 targets edges in your footage for enhancement without affecting the pixels around them. Traditional sharpening tools increase contrast across entire regions, which often creates unwanted artifacts. This plugin isolates edge pixels, allowing you to define their width and intensity while leaving adjacent areas untouched.

Key Features

Enhance Edges Only. Set the exact width of edges to sharpen. The surrounding pixels stay as they are, which helps avoid the typical over-sharpened look.

Edge Preserving Mode. Reduces halos using an edge-aware algorithm. Useful when working with high-contrast edges or bright backgrounds where traditional methods introduce visible artifacts.

Preserve Saturation Mode. Applies enhancement to the luminosity channel only. Colors won’t shift during the sharpening process.

HDR-Like Effect. With a larger radius, the plugin can simulate a pseudo-HDR look by emphasizing edge detail across the frame.

The plugin is multi-CPU accelerated and supports both After Effects CC and Premiere Pro CC (2015 and above) in a single install. A separate Photoshop version is available directly from Fixel Algorithms.

Who It’s For

Useful for editors working with archival footage, upscaled content, or any project where you need to sharpen specific detail without introducing noise or halos. Also applies to color grading workflows where edge clarity matters, such as product shots or architectural renders.

Pricing
