What It Does

Filmmaker’s Transitions was a preset pack for Animation Composer that provided cinematic transitions for After Effects projects. It featured simulated camera movements, zooms, perspective pans, rolls, light leaks, and glitch effects. The presets worked with the free Animation Composer plugin and were organized into folders by type.

This product has been discontinued and is now available only through Mister Horse’s subscription plan, which includes access to their full library of tools.

Key Features

The pack included several transition categories:

Simulated camera movements. Transitions mimicked real camera behavior, including pans, zooms, and rolls, creating a filmic look without requiring 3D camera setup.

Light leaks and glitches. Beyond camera effects, the pack provided optical effects like light leaks and digital glitches for varied visual styles.

Native After Effects controls. Each preset used standard After Effects functionality, so you could modify parameters without learning a new system. Adjusting transition speed was as simple as dragging the layer’s In or Out point.

Smart replacement buttons. The Replace function swapped one transition for another instantly. The Safe Replace option hid the current transition and created a new one above it, useful for comparing options without losing work.

Who It’s For

The presets were designed for motion graphics work, particularly title animations and text sequences. If you needed to transition between two text layers, you could drop a preset between them and adjust the timing. The organized folder structure made finding specific transition types straightforward, even for users new to motion graphics.

Pricing

Filmmaker’s Transitions is no longer sold individually. Mister Horse consolidated their products into a single subscription available through their website. The original standalone price was $24-30, but current subscription pricing requires visiting the Mister Horse site directly.
