What It Does
Essential Namer 2 simplifies building Motion Graphics Templates (MOGRTs) by adding layer properties to the Essential Graphics Panel without navigating through nested comps. The script handles common properties like transform controls and source text with one click, while giving you control over how they’re named.
Key Features
Transform property shortcuts. Press single keys to add properties: A for anchor point, P for position, S for scale, R for rotation, T for opacity. Shift+A adds all transform properties at once. Full 3D layer support includes position separate dimensions.
Custom naming control. By default, properties are named “Property Name, Layer Name” (e.g., “Position, Star”). Hold Alt while clicking to omit the layer name. Add a custom prefix for team workflows like “MASTER_Position, Star”.
Source text button. Select text layers and press ST to add their source text property. Works with multiple layers at once.
Selected property support. Works with any property, not just transforms. Select a property like Fast Box Blur or a shape layer’s color and the script adds it with proper naming that includes the effect name.
Automatic template naming. Enable the “Comp Name” checkbox to automatically rename your Essential Graphics template to match the active comp. A separate Match button renames the template without adding properties.
Kbar integration. Includes icons and full support for Kbar, letting you trigger all functions from custom toolbar buttons.
Auto-close option. After Effects requires the Essential Graphics Panel to be open when adding properties. The Auto checkbox closes the panel after each addition if you prefer a cleaner workspace.
