What It Does

erLab_edgeBlender solves a specific technical problem: creating panoramic projections across multiple standard video projectors. Edge blending is typically a feature of expensive professional projectors or specialized software. This script brings that capability into After Effects for $9.99.

You work in a full-size panoramic composition (for example, 3×1024×768 = 3072×768 pixels). The script accounts for overlapping areas between projectors, then generates the split compositions you need to output through a DualHead, TripleHead, or similar multi-display system.

Key Features

Two inputs control the entire setup. First, you specify the number of projector slices (for instance, 3 for a three-projector setup). Second, you define the width of the blending area where projectors overlap (such as 200 pixels). The script then builds the necessary compositions automatically.

Calibration pattern included. The script generates a test pattern specifically for aligning projectors. This helps you match up the physical projectors so the overlapping areas blend correctly in the real world.

Direct render output. The final composition is ready to render and send through your multi-display hardware. No additional processing needed.

Who It’s For

This targets a specific use case: live events, installations, or presentations where you’re projecting a wide panoramic image but don’t have access to projectors with built-in edge blending. If you’ve ever needed to sync multiple projectors for a seamless wide display, this script handles the math and composition setup.

It’s built for After Effects CS4 through CS6, so it won’t work in modern CC versions without testing.
