What It Does

Dojo Text Generator converts sentences or paragraphs into individual text layers in After Effects. Paste text directly into the script panel and it creates a separate layer for each word or phrase based on your chosen delimiter. You can also break apart existing text layers or load content from external files (.txt, .xml, .csv).

This script is no longer available. The developer recommends MonkeyWords as an alternative.

Key Features

Custom separators. Define how the script splits text (by space, comma, newline, or a custom character). A comma separator turns “red, green, blue” into three layers. Newline separation works well for multi-line lists.

External file support. Load text from .txt, .xml, or .csv files instead of pasting manually. Useful for generating titles from spreadsheets or scripts.

Layer options. Automatically enable 3D or motion blur on generated layers. Flip the stacking order if you need layers in reverse sequence.

Text layer splitting. Select existing text layers and break them apart into separate layers following the same separator rules.

Who It’s For

Motion designers building kinetic typography sequences or anyone who needs to create many text layers at once. Most useful when you’re animating word-by-word reveals, working from a script with multiple lines, or setting up template projects where text comes from external data.

Before generating layers, set your font, size, and kerning. The script creates layers using whatever text formatting is active in After Effects.

Pricing

Originally sold as pay-what-you-want (including free). Users could name their own price or download at no cost. The script has been discontinued and is no longer available for purchase.
