What It Does

Data Glitch 2 generates digital image corruption effects using four distinct glitch algorithms: Scan, Block, Offset, and Rect. Each glitch type mimics different forms of digital distortion, from horizontal scan line errors to blocky compression artifacts. The plugin works as a native effect in both After Effects and Premiere Pro, processing footage directly on the timeline without pre-rendering.

Key Features

Four glitch types. Scan creates horizontal line disruptions similar to analog video errors. Block generates chunky compression artifacts. Offset shifts color channels independently. Rect produces rectangular distortion zones. Each operates independently with its own control set.

Per-channel control lets you apply glitches to red, green, and blue channels separately or in combination. This creates more complex distortions than single-channel effects. Per-channel random seed control means each color can use different glitch patterns, preventing the flat look of identical channel processing.

Alpha support applies glitches to transparent areas, useful for corrupting title cards and logo animations without affecting the background. The effect respects layer transparency, so glitches only appear where your type or graphics exist.

Color space options. Process in either YUV (video standard) or RGB (computer graphics standard). YUV mode produces glitches closer to real broadcast errors. RGB mode gives more control over individual color channels.

Image compression control with optional mapping adds JPEG-style compression artifacts. The image map option lets you use a separate layer to control where compression occurs, focusing glitches on specific areas of your frame.

Who It’s For

Motion designers working on tech-themed title sequences, VFX artists creating digital failure effects, and editors adding distortion to music videos or horror content. Particularly useful for cyberpunk aesthetics, error state animations, and any project requiring controlled digital corruption. The alpha support makes it practical for logo reveals and kinetic typography where glitches need to follow text shapes.
