What It Does

Crossphere Bokeh creates lens blur effects with parametric control over bokeh shape, highlight rendering, and depth of field. It works in 32 bpc for photo-realistic compositing and supports linear color space for accurate light falloff.

Key Features

Parametric bokeh shape. Control vertices and roundness to create anything from circular bokeh to star shapes. Setting vertices to 5 with negative roundness produces star-shaped highlights. Or use any layer as a custom bokeh shape for unique blur patterns.

Depth mapping. Apply a depth map layer to simulate realistic depth of field with variable focus across the image. Extended focal distance range from -1 to 2, with focus points and interpolation controls for precise focus control.

HDR highlight rendering. Built-in tonal mapping handles highlights and flares with threshold controls. The plugin preserves bright areas without clipping, useful for compositing glowing elements or bright lights.

Edge handling. Remove edge leak parameter prevents blur artifacts at composition edges. Edge detection threshold and behavior controls handle layer boundaries when working on adjustment layers.

Composite modes. Multiple blending options for integrating the blur with the original layer.

Works on adjustment layers. Compatible with After Effects comp cameras and lights. Supports 32 bpc for maximum quality in VFX compositing.

Who It’s For

Compositors working with 3D renders or photo-realistic VFX who need accurate lens blur. Also useful for motion graphics artists adding cinematic depth of field to title sequences or product shots. Works with Element 3D renders for integrated depth of field.
