What It Does
Connect Layers PRO creates dynamic lines between After Effects layers using path expressions. The connections update automatically as layers move, without keyframes. Select layers, pick a connection type (rope, spanning tree, triangulation, cloud, or step), and the plugin generates shape layers with expression-driven paths.
Key Features
Connection types. Six algorithms: Rope connects layers sequentially, Spanning Tree creates minimal branching paths, Triangulation builds a mesh of triangles, Cloud links all layers to a center point, and Step creates right-angle paths.
Curviness options. Lines support straight edges, arc bends, bezier curves, Penner easing curves, and physics-based dynamics. Dynamics include three modes: Spring, Verlet, and Coaxial. Each adds natural motion when layers animate.
Gradients and styling. Both stroke and fill support solid colors or gradients. Built-in shape modifiers include trim paths, dashes, offsets, round corners, twist, wiggle, zig zag, and a repeater. Control line weight, arrowheads (square, circle, triangle, or custom), and appearance directly from the plugin interface.
Works with 3D layers. Connections maintain spatial relationships in 3D space. Pairs well with Newton 3 for physics simulations, creating realistic rope behavior or soft body animations.
Performance controls. Precision settings optimize expression calculations when working with many layers. Shape layers remain fully editable while expressions handle the connection logic.
