What It Does

compCode converts After Effects compositions and layers into executable JavaScript files. Select a comp or layers, click the button, and get a script that recreates your design. The resulting scripts work back to CS6, making them version-agnostic for template delivery. No programming knowledge required.

The generated scripts support user tokens, letting you define what end users can customize when they run the script, such as text content, layer names, or footage sources.

Key Features

One-click conversion. Select a composition or layers and export them as an executable script. The output recreates your original design from code.

User tokens for customization. Add text: to text layer names to prompt users for custom text. Use file: on footage items to let users choose their own media. Apply name: to items, layers, or properties so users can set custom names. Insert //value in expressions to prompt for any value input.

compPack for template delivery. Bundle multiple scripts into a searchable UI panel. compPack respects your folder structure, adds branding artwork, and creates a polished interface for sharing script collections.

Backwards compatibility. Generated scripts run on After Effects CS6 and newer. For template authors, this means one package works across multiple versions.

Expression and property support. Handles all layer types, expressions, and most properties. The script writes expressions even when value-setting fails (like with hidden properties), ensuring expressions stay intact.

Reusable project items. Scripts can target the current composition or create a new one. Existing project items get reused instead of duplicated, keeping projects clean.

Who It’s For

Template authors who want to package After Effects projects as easy-to-use scripts instead of heavy project files. Motion designers who need to share repeatable compositions without version conflicts. Studios distributing corporate branding packages in a standardized format.

If you build templates for clients or marketplaces, compCode replaces bulky AEP files with lightweight scripts that prompt users only for what they need.

Pricing

compCode uses pay-what-you-want pricing (suggested price $100). Individual users can name their own price. Businesses and teams must pay the suggested amount for a valid license. Upgrade pricing available for existing customers who log in.
