What It Does
Colloid is an animated typeface where each character forms through a dance between two colored liquids. Every letter, number, and symbol features hand-drawn frame-by-frame animation with detailed motion physics, tiny drops, and lifelike flow. Because each character has variable duration, you get dynamic, non-repetitive results when typing words.
Key Features
Vector-based animation. The typeface scales to any size without quality loss, making it practical for both social media graphics and large-format displays.
Color and style controls. Customize two liquid colors and choose from three edge treatments: smooth, rough, or a looping wiggle effect.
JSX format for Font Manager. Works with Font Manager (sold separately) which handles size, tracking, line spacing, alignment, and time offset. Font Manager auto-generates controllers for the typeface settings. Alternatively, use the free Animography Controller to drag characters into comps and parent settings with one click.
Complete character set. Includes uppercase A-Z, numbers 0-9, and common punctuation (! ? . , : ; ’ ” # $ % & @ ( ) + - =).
Who It’s For
Useful for motion designers working on title sequences, social media content, or any project where organic, eye-catching type animation adds value. The liquid aesthetic fits organic product branding, tech explainers, or editorial pieces needing visual energy without traditional kinetic type techniques.
Pricing
Colloid uses pay-what-you-want pricing. The site shows a current suggested amount of $44 for a single-user license, but you can set your own price. The 7-day free trial includes letters A, B, and C (requires Font Manager, which also has a free trial). If you order four or more Animography typefaces together, you get an additional 25% discount on the bundle.
Compatible with After Effects 2020 through 2024.
