What It Does

CircusMonkey generates 3D kinetic typography sequences using a rig-based system. It builds text animations in After Effects’ 3D space, adds an automatically generated camera that moves between words, and controls timing through markers instead of keyframes. From the makers of TypeMonkey, it takes a different approach to kinetic type, producing distinct results through its core text rig system.

Key Features

7 Text Rigs form the foundation. Each rig creates a different 3D shape configuration for your text, from basic layouts to more complex spatial arrangements.

Marker-based timing controls the entire sequence. Slide a marker to adjust timing. No keyframes to manage. The Marker Sync feature helps match animations to voiceover or music automatically.

Automated camera movement follows the text through 3D space. The camera algorithm generates dynamic moves from word to word without manual keyframing.

Effects-based controls let you modify the layout, animation style, camera angle, and visibility after the initial build. This makes iteration faster than rebuilding from scratch.

Visibility Controls manage depth separation, helping you space words in Z-space to avoid overlap or create intentional layering.

Kuler Palette Import brings in color schemes directly. Multiple alignment options and transition settings (both in and out) give you control over how text enters and exits.

Includes MonkeyTools, a free utility collection for project management.

Who It’s For

Motion designers building title sequences, promo graphics, or any project that needs kinetic type with 3D movement. Useful if you work with voiceover-driven content where timing changes frequently. The marker-based approach makes revisions faster than traditional keyframe animation.

Both TypeMonkey and CircusMonkey generate kinetic type, but they use different methods. If you already own TypeMonkey, CircusMonkey offers a separate set of results worth exploring.

Pricing

CircusMonkey costs $89.99 for a single user license. A floating server license is also available for multi-seat studios. A trial version is available to test the tool before purchasing.
