What It Does

Boxcam replaces the typical workflow of parenting dozens of layers to a null object and animating position/scale. Instead, you draw a box that defines your camera frame, animate that box, and click a button to generate a new comp with the result. It’s a 2D camera solution for motion designers who want camera-style moves without setting up 3D space.

Note: This product has been discontinued by the developer.

Key Features

Box-based framing. Draw a rectangular frame anywhere in your composition. This box defines what the viewer sees. Move it around your scene, scale it to zoom in/out, or parent it to a moving layer.

One-click output. After animating the box, click the output composition button. Boxcam generates a new comp that shows only what’s inside the box, with all the movement baked in. No manual pre-composing or expression rigging.

Multiple cameras per comp. Place several Boxcam instances in the same composition. Useful for cutting between different views in a single timeline, like showcasing animation progress or following different objects.

Partial-time camera moves. Trim the Boxcam layer to apply the camera effect only during specific time ranges. Switch between static views and animated moves within one comp.

Practical for title sequences, product showcases, or any project where you need to guide the viewer’s attention across a larger canvas without rebuilding the entire comp structure.

Pricing

Boxcam uses a pay-what-you-want pricing model. You set the amount. If you purchased version 1, the price of v2 is automatically discounted by what you paid before (login to the same account to see this).

Compatible with After Effects CS6 through CC 2024.
