What It Does
Basic Space is an uppercase-only animated typeface built for After Effects. The design centers on geometric shapes and line-based construction, making it a natural fit for sci-fi interfaces, futuristic titles, or minimalist motion graphics. Each letterform animates on, and you can adjust the color and line width through a simple controller.
The typeface includes uppercase A–Z, numerals 0–9, and basic punctuation (! ? ¿ , . : ; # & + = / ). It ships as both a lightweight JSX file (for use with Font Manager) and a traditional .aep project file with all characters organized in pre-comps.
Key Features
Color and line width controls. A built-in controller lets you change the stroke color and adjust line thickness without diving into shape layer properties.
JSX format for Font Manager. Drop the JSX file into Font Manager to type normally, set tracking, line spacing, alignment, and time offset. The controller syncs automatically.
Organized .aep structure. If you prefer working without Font Manager, the included After Effects project file gives you access to every animated character in labeled compositions.
Animography Controller compatibility. The free Animography Controller script lets you drag characters into a comp and link their controllers with one click.
Free trial. A 7-day trial includes animated versions of A, B, and C. You’ll need Font Manager (which also has a trial) to use the JSX format.
Who It’s For
Motion designers working on tech product launches, sci-fi short films, or title sequences with a geometric or industrial aesthetic. The uppercase-only character set keeps it focused on display use, not body copy.
