What It Does
Bang generates 3D muzzle flashes using a procedural particle system that respects After Effects comp cameras. You can create flashes from pistols, rifles, or sci-fi weapons, then position them in 3D space. The plugin calculates how the flash would look from your camera angle, making it useful for action sequences shot with camera movement.
Key Features
Flash Builder lets you shape each flash with a profile editor. Move points, add petals for assault rifle star patterns, or include sparks. Energy and randomness controls adjust the look from realistic to stylized.
Instance Module supports up to 16 separate flashes per layer. The EZ-Aim system positions flashes quickly, and you trigger each one with a single keyframe. Version 1.1 improved perspective rendering at frame edges and added a Follow Layer aim system for tracking objects.
Bang Relighter simulates how bright muzzle flashes illuminate actors and environments. It reads trigger timing and position from Instance modules, then applies automatic lighting based on flash color and intensity.
Preset Browser includes bundled muzzle flashes for pistols, assault weapons, and unusual blasters. Apply them directly or use as starting points.
Compositing workflow handles video, log, or linear color space for correct dynamic range matching.
Who It’s For
Action editors adding gunfire effects to practical footage. VFX artists who need camera-aware 3D flashes instead of flat overlays. Anyone building action scenes where the flash needs to match camera perspective and illuminate the scene.
